The TO DO List

MUST DO
  1. Change motor oil / filter
  2. Change differential fluid
  3. Change transmission fluid
  4. Check transmission/engine bolts (2 were found loose last race) 
  5. Check brake pads & shoes.
  6. Fix the Dave Chaput memorial Corner, in particular the frame-to-rear-bumper mounting bits (I found some on fleaBay). Bolts mighty rusted; afraid to snap them 2 days before race; may have to wait.
  7. Replace coolant with water.

SAFETY
  1. Install Fire suppression system 
  2. Install 2nd rear view mirror  (have). Replaced first mirror with uncracked new one.

RELIABILITY
  1. Brake cooling hoses from headlight blanks 
  2. Front end alignment 
  3. Clean out carb again since new filters installed 
  4. Install Holley red fuel pump rebuild kit

CHUMP CAR REQUIRED
  1. Move Kill Switch to middle of dashboard
  2. Window Net (have net; need to install)  
  3. Double check new ChumpCar rules

GENERAL / SHOULD DO
  1. Replace / fix / remove heater hose leak 
  2. Radiator leak (cap or front fins) 
  3. High torque starter or repair starter on there now 
  4. Lighter weight tow hooks 
  5. Adjust brake / clutch pedal travel as per Randy P. 
  6. Replace / clean in-tank fuel filter  (have 1 spare)
  7. Hood safety pin area cracked? if so, fix / reinforce 
  8. Differential clamp / poor mans Limited Slip Differential hack 
  9. Carb cold air intake

BLING
  1. EGT Sensors  (have i think)
  2. Plexiglass side windows 
  3. Oil pressure gauge 
  4. Fuel gauge 
  5. Make a Cool shirt  (have bits)
  6. Driver vent / air scoop 
  7. Anti-tramp bar / rear anit-roll bar / Sway bar  
  8. Heel bar / driver foot position reference
  9. Dead pedal

STREET
  1. Running Lights 
  2. Hand brake 

SHOPPING LIST
  1. Holley red fuel pump rebuild kit

    2012 ALREADY DONE:

    MUST DO
    1. Brake Light Switch is crappy-ass. Done
    2. Change motor oil / filter Done.
    3. Change differential fluid Done.
    4. Change transmission fluid Done.
    5. Check back shock mounts. Done! 
    6. Bleed brake master cylinder / brake system Done. 
    7. Check brake pads & shoes. Done. New Hawk pads on front.
    8. Swap bolts holding fuel pump; one is longer and is too close to a line. Done
    9. Check distributor for 2nd bolt that was missing at one time. In and Snug! 
    10. Replace rusted and bent old shocks. Done!
    11. Torque leaf spring bolts to 26 ftLbs. Done- they were much looser than that!
    12. Replace coolant with water. Done.

    SAFETY
    1. Brighter Brake Lights Done
    2. Install Fire suppression system 
    3. Safety wire drill remaining lug nuts  Done
    4. Install 2nd rear view mirror  (have). Replaced first mirror with uncracked new one.
    5. Clean off all old oil in engine bay !!. Done!
    6. Crankcase breather should have oil separator bottle. Done.
    7. Replace gas cap. Done; much tighter.
    8. Tape down wheel balancing weights (if they haven't flown off already) Who cares.
    9. Safety Wire drain plugs. Done.

    RELIABILITY
    1. Exhaust header wrap  (have) Postponed. Don't think we'll do this without more research; many say it kills headers and rusts up with trapped moisture.
    2. Install DGV Accel Pump into carburetor
    3. Check if Clutch slave cylinder weeping? It's not.
    4. Replace Throttle Cable (have); use proper cable end bolt. Done.
    5. Fabricate wire mesh cage to protect fuel pump. Done.
    6. Rear stop-straps are fubar! Order new ones and Replace. Done. See Must-Do #5

    CHUMP CAR REQUIRED
    1. Move Kill Switch to middle of dashboard (not needed for 2012)

    GENERAL / SHOULD DO
    1. New glass windshield. Done, enough.
    2. Windshield wipers  (have, used, may not work). Done.
    3. Rev limiter 
    4. Radio system Done; thanks Bob and Scot.
    5. Adjustable passenger side view mirror Done
    6. New trailer ramps / muffler scraping = bad. Done (new trailer!)
    7. Carb cold air intake

    STREET
    1. Headlights Done.
